A broken tooth, new cavity, or decay under an old filling are common causes for tooth pain. It may also be caused by damage to the tooth as a result of excessive grinding or clenching.
An infection from plaque buildup and gum disease, or from food being stuck in between your teeth can cause your gums to become sore and swollen. Give us a call but in the meantime try to gently brush or floss the affected area and rinse with warm salt water.
Trauma to your teeth from an accident or injury, or biting on hard food can result in a broken tooth. Also, having a cavity can weaken your tooth which may cause chipping and fracture.
If your crown falls off, be sure to make an appointment with us as soon as possible and bring the crown with you. In the meantime if you’re experiencing pain, you can apply a cotton swab with some clove oil to the sensitive area.
